Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a tool I use frequently for many issues. It is particularly useful for working with all kinds of trauma. It is a very powerful tool for diagnosis, processing and releasing disturbances. It often provides a quicker road to healing than many traditional therapies by working on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels simultaneously.

A brainspot is a location in the eye where a there is an energetic activation of a trauma or emotional charge as it is held within the brain and nervous system. By assisting you to focus on significant eye positions, deep processing, reconditioning and healing can occur.

The body’s capacity to heal itself appears to be stimulated by the brainspotting process. It can work quickly to relieve many traumatic symptoms including depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, nightmares, anger and fear. Brainspotting assists in releasing and removing dysfunctional beliefs such as unworthiness and hopelessness. It also can help to release trauma stored in the body including pain, tenseness, irritability, anger and gastrointestinal distress.

When I work with people using brainspotting, I am providing a warm, loving safe place to do this work. I integrate brainspotting with all the other approaches I use in my work.

David Grand, PhD. developed brainspotting out of the technique, EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I also have advanced training in EMDR.
